How to contact the Helpdesk
There are two ways to contact your Helpdesk: by phone or email. Please use the contact information specific to your facility.
When you contact the help desk, you need to provide the following information to assist the staff in determining the nature and scope of your request.
- Contact information – name and call-back phone number where the Helpdesk can reach you, or an alternate contact person.
- Your location – unit name, building, floor and room number.
- Detailed description of your question or issue.
- If related to your PC or a printer include asset number/PC or printer name.
- If related to an application, include application name, any error messages you received, time issue occurred, and names of co-workers having same issue.

Remote Access
Remote Access accounts are issued to customers requiring access to clinical and corporate applications from outside of the network firewall (home or other institutions).
To request access:
- Access the Service Desk Portal to request Remote Access, click here.
- Complete the online form
- Submit the form
Remote access will NOT allow you access to your files stored on your hard drive on your desktop work computer.
Remote User Responsibility:
- Log out of remote access when computer is unattended
- Scan your devices regularly
- Install any security / critical updates at least twice a month to ensure viruses are not transmitted to the UMMS network.

Requesting a Computer, Printer, New Application
Computers, printers, new applications, and software requests are handled by contacting the Helpdesk at your facility. Be sure to include: Contact and location information and a detailed description of the request.
Requesting a Mobile Phone
Mobile devices may be requested by contacting the Helpdesk at your facility.
Mobile Device management (MDM) User Guide for Apple IOS and Android Devices
The University of Maryland Medical System is utilizing IBM’s MaaS360 Mobile Device Management (MDM) to protect your mobile device for use with your Hospital email account. This application will be used to secure your email with your phone and add a passcode to your device for protection. Your email functionality is still directly linked to the UMMS Exchange Servers and utilizes the native applications for Mail, Contacts, Reminders (Tasks), and Notes.
