Digital Health Initiative
As a System and at every one of our member organizations, we put patients at the center of all we do.
To be Maryland's provider of choice, we must extend beyond our ongoing efforts to optimize the care that we deliver inside our walls. We also need to consider better ways of connecting with our patients in their daily lives.
Patients today expect a seamless digital experience that prioritizes ease of access to care. Research shows that patients increasingly say they value convenience when making healthcare choices.
And so we are listening. We understand that creating a comprehensive digital health strategy is foundational to maintaining our patient-centric approach because new technologies and forms of communication are accelerating the pace of change in our culture.
While the nature of some of the work before us is technical, most of it is about changing our culture, our processes and the way we interact with patients. It will require the participation of providers and team members from across the organization.
With your help, UMMS digital health initiative — a multi-year, phased plan — will transform the UMMS patient journey.
A Digital Health Strategy Is Essential
We have surveyed the digital health competitive landscape to gauge where UMMS fits. And we see this as an opportunity to outperform our competition both in terms of growth and engagement with our patients and communities.
These digital health initiatives will enable:
System growth, allowing us to develop an additional access point, attract new patients and expand into new service areas
Better patient engagement, offering more personalized service, while still being mindful of health equity concerns and recognizing the diversity of our target populations
