UM Upper Chesapeake Moving Toward One UMMS
Good afternoon,
Here at UM Upper Chesapeake Health, we’re on a journey together.
For over a century, our hospitals have served the residents of northeastern Maryland with unparalleled dedication and a culture of excellence. Almost 10 years ago, we joined the state’s premier academic health system when we became part of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). As we enter our first decade as an UMMS member organization, it is time to move towards systems integrations that take us further toward One UMMS and allows us to take advantage of the benefits of being part of a large, statewide system.
You are an important success factor in this transformational journey. As we continue to grow and evolve into a truly integrated, connected and sustainable UMMS member organization, we are committed to maintaining a positive and supportive workplace environment.
Over the fall and winter, UM UCH will transition many of our business processes and technology systems to UMMS standards. This transition will further align us with UMMS in meaningful and transformative ways that will improve the way we operate. The work on these process changes has begun and will continue through the first six months of 2022.
Below are the focused areas we are transitioning to and the corresponding platform or structure that will support it:
Pay Practices (timecard rounding, PTO, etc.) à Standard UMMS Pay Practices
Timekeeping, Scheduling and Planning Software à UMMS People Planning (Kronos)
Financial Management, Supply Chain and HR Software à Infor
Finance/Supply Chain Team and Functions à Realigned with Shared Services
Human Resources Team and Functions (Recruitment, Team Member Relations, etc.) à Realigned with Shared Services
Health Plan, Retirement and other Benefits à Standard UMMS Benefits
These changes are important for UM UCH and will affect everyone. You have a very important role in keeping your team informed of these changes and escalating any issues to the transition team. Each of these projects has a team dedicated to their successful implementation and to making sure that our leaders and team members are informed along the way. All team members will receive updates in the weeks leading up to each transition with FAQs, job aids, training opportunities and more resources to ensure a seamless conversion, but as leaders, we need you to help your team navigate through these changes. This is a challenging time and these changes will help us going forward by being more efficient and, ultimately, in improving our overall ability to care for our patients and community.
What can you do right now?
First, I ask for your cooperation and patience as our project teams work to make these transitions as smooth as possible for all of us.
Second, please organize your team in a way that allows you to regularly share information and ensure that your team is trained on these platforms. Information on all projects will be posted on OneUMMS.org (public website), UM UCH Insider (intranet), and through emails, town halls, fliers and other communications. The first overview for Infor is September 23 at 1:00 p.m. and will be recorded.
Thank you for your dedication, patience and support during this exciting time in the journey toward One UMMS.
In Good Health,
.
