Transition to Infor and UMMS People Planning to Create an Improved Team Member Experience
This fall and winter, UM Upper Chesapeake Health will join other UMMS member organizations in our move toward One UMMS, our shared commitment to come together and leverage the benefits of being part of a stronger, more sustainable statewide System.
This transition will move UM Upper Chesapeake towards standardized, streamlined, and unified business systems, policies and functions, with the goal of creating a more efficient workplace for our team members and improved experience for our patients.
Here’s what that means: over the next several months, UM Upper Chesapeake will implement several new technology systems including Infor ERP and UMMS People Planning (Kronos). These systems will provide several benefits to our team members and will improve the way we do business in the following areas:
As we make this transition, we want to provide you with the information you need in advance, so you are as prepared as possible. Through email, fliers and online updates, our project teams commit to keeping you informed about how and when these transitions will be occurring. We’ll use a consistent labeling system to help you quickly skim the information most important to you. All email subject lines will begin with the name of the project and be color coded by topic. Infor communications will use the UMMS blue, and People Planning communications will be highlighted by UMMS gold.
HOW ARE WE DOING THIS?
A project team comprised of team members and leaders from UM Upper Chesapeake Health and Corporate Shared Services is assembled and focused on these transitions. Their goal is to make the transition to the Infor and People Planning platforms as seamless as possible. Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in both areas will be trained in advance and lead the way in helping you learn the new systems.
WHY ARE WE MAKING THIS CHANGE?
These changes are another vital step towards our vision of One UMMS, streamlining our processes to produce greater collaboration, enhanced operations and ultimately, higher quality care to the people of Maryland. These systems offer many benefits, including
|
Infor
- Improved Financial & Management Reporting
- Advanced Functionality
- New Processes
- Greater Connectivity
- Enhanced Supply Information
|
People Planning
- Consistent experience across all member organizations
- Mobile timecard approval and paid leave requests
- More self-service options for scheduling

WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING?
The move to Infor and People Planning is expected to occur in mid-January 2022. These two systems are interdependent, so for the transition to work effectively, they will need to launch within a few weeks of each other.
WHEN WILL I BE TRAINED ON HOW TO USE THE NEW SYSTEMS?
Over the next several months, you will hear more about training opportunities and practice using the new systems before they go live. Updates will be posted on OneUMMS.org, UMMSConnect and the UM UCH Insider. Because other UMMS member organizations are already using UMMS People Planning, you can browse job aids and tutorials at OneUMMS.org/umms-people-planning to get an idea for what to expect. Specific training dates will be shared with you in the coming weeks.
ABOUT THE MOVE TO INFOR
Infor, which is already used by UMMS Human Resources, Payroll, Supply Chain, and Financial Management, is a best-in-class system which will increase automation, streamline processing and standardize reporting. Now, we’re expanding it to deliver these benefits System-wide.
ABOUT THE MOVE TO PEOPLE PLANNING
An important part of enhancing the work environment across UMMS is creating shared processes for knowing when you are going to work, what you can accomplish during your working hours, and how you are compensated for that work. Our goal is to create a more collaborative and consistent work environment that allows us to deliver the best possible care to our patients across UMMS. To achieve this, we are implementing a new technology platform called UMMS People Planning using the industry-leading Kronos Workforce Central software for timekeeping, scheduling and analytics.
WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW?
No actions are required from you, yet. Soon, if you are required to attend training, you will receive links to register for online courses. Until then, you can also browse resources available online at OneUMMS.org/infor and OneUMMS.org/umms-people-planning. We’ll keep these pages updated with the latest timelines and need-to-know information.
