Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, we have demonstrated resilience, ingenuity and an unwavering dedication to our patients, as we were, and continue to be, at the forefront of Maryland’s response. Our collective and ongoing engagement has in many ways reframed how UMMS is perceived within our communities. It is important we seize this moment to reinforce our commitment to the people of Maryland — not only during a worldwide pandemic, but also for their daily health needs.

With that in mind, I am proud to announce that the University of Maryland Medical System is launching a bold new brand campaign throughout the next week. The campaign, entitled “Better State of Care,” positions UMMS as the one health system that is truly focused on the health of Marylanders. This campaign will increase awareness of UMMS as a System and more closely connect our member organizations as One UMMS. With a goal of becoming the health care provider of choice for the State of Maryland, we will clearly and confidently define UMMS’ value for all Marylanders.

Starting on Friday, May 7, you will begin to see our “Better State of Care” brand message across the state on TV, radio, billboards, in print ads in community newspapers and in digital ads online. The campaign will run throughout the summer in the many Maryland communities that we serve, utilizing compelling imagery to connect UMMS providers and expertise to Maryland. You may see some familiar faces, as the ads feature our own team members and providers representing all of our member organizations.

We are proud of our state and of our unique connection through our name and partnerships with the University of Maryland, Baltimore and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. With 13 hospitals and 150+ locations, we put academic medicine in reach all across Maryland to provide better treatments and better outcomes for the communities we have the honor of serving. As an academic health system, we are not just treating patients today but also developing new treatments and putting innovation into practice to deliver the health care of the future.

I encourage you to check out our new brand message our campaign landing page and the campaign toolkit to learn how you can help to spread our brand messages. I hope you feel a sense of pride in viewing this campaign, because it is you, our 29,000 team members, who are at the center of everything we do and accomplish every day.

Thank you for helping us make a better state of care the new reality for our patients, our communities and each other.
