Transition to Infor Supply Chain Management: What You Need to Know

You’ve heard that we’re switching to Infor. But why does it matter and how will the switch to Infor benefit you? There is a lot to be excited about. Below is some information on why this is important and how you will benefit from Infor Supply Chain Management.

What do I need to know about using Infor?

  • Infor is a new system we will all need to learn.
  • Some of what we do in our daily work will change, and most of the new ways of doing things in Infor are improvements from our current system.

How does this change benefit me?

  • See and choose from more than 500,000 lowest cost, readily available contracted items.
  • Have access to new — and more — hand-held scanners to pick and pack items in inventory management.
  • Find vendors more easily using enriched vendor data.
  • Prevent inventory from expiring or ordering too much or too little thanks to real-time transmission of inventory counts to the system – no more manual steps.
  • Easily share inventory between hospitals, which will help reduce costs, through increased visibility into UMMS member organizations’ inventory levels.

What Is NOT Changing?

  • The process for submitting check requests, expense reimbursements and other timekeeping activities.
  • Processing invoices with Symbeo.
  • Reports distributed from Axiom.
  • Current item numbers.

What to Expect Going Forward

  • Communications: As we move closer to go-live, communications will contain more detailed information about what is changing and how to prepare. Communications will come to you in a variety of ways: UMMSConnect, your local Insider, email, webinars, huddle topics and in meetings with local leadership.
  • Training: The start of training with UMMS U is just around the corner. Watch closely for training notifications from UMMS U. Training will be delivered through eLearning and in-classroom, depending on your role. Training is mandatory.
  • Support: During the early part of the rollout, we anticipate that processes may initially be slower and we may learn about some issues that will require immediate resolution and others that point to needs in the form of future design changes. A robust post go-live support model will be in place until operational environments are stabilized to ensure continuity in business processes, prepare and enable our employees for seamless use of the new system, and make certain that day-to-day operations are unimpeded.

ABOUT THE MOVE TO INFOR

Infor, which is already used by UMMS Human Resources, Payroll, Supply Chain, and Financial Management, is a best-in-class system which will increase automation, streamline processing and standardize reporting. Now, we’re expanding it to deliver these benefits System-wide.

This change to Infor is another vital step toward our vision of One UMMS, streamlining our processes to produce greater collaboration, enhanced discovery and, ultimately, higher quality care to the people of Maryland.
