dsDr. Deborah Stein - Executive Sponser

Deborah M. Stein MD, MPH, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University, her Medical Degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and her Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health with certificates in both Injury Control and Heath Policy. She completed her general surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a Fellowship in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She is Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care and has Subspecialty Certification from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties in Neurocritical Care. She is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Critical Care Medicine

Dr. Kim Claeys - Co-Lead Rapid Diagnositcs, Associate Professor in Pharmacy Practice and Science Department 

Dr. Kim Claeys is an Associate Professor in the Pharmacy Practice and Science Department at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Additionally she serves as an Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Pharmacist at the University of Maryland Medical Center. In her role, she serves as the AMS liaison to the Clinical Microbiology laboratory, where they work to improve antibiotic susceptibility testing and reporting to aid in optimizing treatment of infectious diseases. Dr. Claeys is also completing a PhD, with her dissertation focused on Diagnostic Stewardship of healthcare-associated infections. She is a fellow of the newly established Center for Innovation in Diagnosis at University of Maryland School of Medicine and Scholar in Diagnostic Excellence with the National Academy of Science and Medicine (2022 – 2023).

 

 


stDr. Sam Tisherman

Professor of Surgery and the Program in Trauma, University of Maryland School of Medicine. Director of the Center for Critical Care and Trauma Education and the Director of the Surgical Intensive Care and Surgical Intermediate Care Units of the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Education

 He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and medical school, general surgery residency, and surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.

Certification

He is Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care and has Subspecialty Certification from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties in Neurocritical Care.
