How eConsult Works

All eConsults across UMMS are requested and scheduled on-demand via Epic. The process includes:

• Hospitalist signs telehealth consult order and consent in Epic. NOTE: Consent is built into Telehealth Consult order.
• On Call Specialist notified of order by Doc Halo.
• Registered Nurse notified of order via BPA in patient’s chart.
• On Call Specialist updates Epic order with time of virtual visit.
• Registered Nurse updates Epic order with assigned device.
• Doc Halo message updated with Zoom Link.
• At scheduled time, Registered Nurse launches Zoom from assigned device in patient’s room.
• Specialist launches Zoom from Doc Halo link.
• Specialist documents in new Consult Note, which facilitates billing.
• Nurse wipes down device for next use.
