How often is data updated in the MoATB?

The MoATB is populated with both real-time and historical data. Information within the MoATB is refreshed at different intervals. Each tab will display the last load date and time in the upper left corner as well as information regarding the frequency of the data loads. For the latest refresh click the “Refresh” icon on the top left of the page within Tableau. Note, the refresh is not your Windows refresh. You are refreshing the page within Tableau which would display the most recent content published on that page.

Will the data in Epic always match the data in the MoATB?

The MoATB uses multiple data sources to populate various visualizations and includes real-time and retrospective data. Some data sources are manually updated such as supplies, ventilators and medications. Other data sources include Epic, Cerner Lab, Lawson and Capital Region’s amongst others. It is important to confirm which data sources are driving the Tab you are viewing, which can impact how the data may marry to what is seen in Epic. Data sources used to drive each tab are identified in the upper left corner of the visualization.

What are the COVID-19 Models?

The COVID-19 models were developed by the UMMS Enterprise Data & Analytics team. The model forecasts events associated with the COVID-19 pandemic in Maryland and at UMMS hospitals. Projections also include Surge Planning. For details on COVID-19 Models and Surge Planning Projections, click Release Notes within the tab. *Access is limited and is granted to individuals deemed appropriate by the Incident Command Structure Leadership.

The COVID-19 Model Projections are accessed from the OVERVIEW Tab.

Click Release Notes within the view to
find out more.

Why does the death counts differ per tab?

From the Clinical Care Tab deaths are determined based on discharge disposition = expired. The tab only looks for inpatient hospitalizations and outcomes should be based on specific hospitalization encounter. The Overview Tab shows hospitalized patients who were diagnosed with COVID+ and identified as expired. This logic includes patients who have expired in any other location. The Demographics Tab reflects hospitalized patients who were diagnosed with COVID+ and identified as expired with a death date on the patient's record. This logic includes patients who have expired in any other location.
