Child Caregiver Tool for Employees

To further support our employees seeking child care services, UMMS has launched a new online tool that allows employees in need of child care to connect with other employees who have volunteered as caregivers. The new website, childcare.umms.umm.edu, is accessible only by UMMS employees using the System’s secure network connection.
During this health crisis, many non-clinical employees have expressed a willingness to provide child care for employees who are unable to secure it elsewhere. Using this new website, these volunteer caregivers can post their location and availability and those in need of child care services can find those volunteers near them geographically. To use the service as a volunteer caregiver or someone seeking child care you must opt-in, and you may opt-out at any time and for any reason. This service is completely voluntary and is not part of any employment requirements.

FAQ
How do I connect with an employee willing to be a caregiver?
Once you have opted-in, you may use the application to search for available volunteer caregivers. From the search page, select the UMMS facility you work at from the list and enter the radius in miles around the work site that you would like to search within. Search results will show available volunteers in your area. You may contact these individuals using the UMMS and/or personal email addresses provided.
Do I have to pay for this service?
The caregiver tool is available for use at no charge. Personal financial arrangements may be made between employees directly, but such arrangements are not part of the tool.
What information do I have to provide?
Employees seeking child care or volunteering to be a caregiver must enter their employee ID, name, zip code, and personal and work email addresses.
How do I access the tool if I’m working from home?
You must be on the UMMS network or logged into VPN to access the tool. For information on accessing VPN, see the telework resource page.
