Getting Here: Location and Directions
Patients with life-threatening conditions such as a heart attack or stroke will have access to physicians and nurses trained specifically to treat those emergencies. In addition, the adult ER offers a fast-track area so that patients with less critical emergencies can be seen in a timely way. Learn more about when to choose the ER versus urgent care.
The adult emergency room is staffed with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, social workers, case managers and a patient advocate to address any special requirements of patients.
As a statewide resource with access to all medical and surgical specialties as well as critical care inpatient units, the emergency department provides initial assessment and stabilization of acute patients from both the local community and patients transferred from outlying areas.
Our physicians provide medical direction for Maryland ExpressCare, a critical care transport program that provides consultation with faculty specialists, coordinates patient admissions and provides air and ground transportation.
For patients transported via ambulance or a critical care vehicle, services are specifically provided to allow for immediate, no-hassle communication between community physicians and the ER's staff.
