Transport Services

The Maryland ExpressCare Transfer/Communications Center

The Maryland ExpressCare Transfer/Communications Center provides 24/7 access to University of Maryland School of Medicine attending physicians, who provide expert consultation within minutes of your call. The Communications Center also coordinates transport services to the University of Maryland Medical Center, and works closely with the Medical Center's Patient Placement Center to facilitate the admission process.

Adult Transport Service

Maryland ExpressCare Adult Transport Service offers fast, expert inter-facility transport by ground or air ambulance for patients requiring advanced monitoring and/or intervention while being transferred to the University of Maryland Medical Center. The transport staff consists of nurses with at least 2 years of critical care experience, paramedics and emergency medical technicians.

Pediatric Transport Service

Maryland ExpressCare for Kids was the first pediatric transport service. The transport team consists of pediatric nurses with at least 2 years of critical care experience, paramedics and emergency medical technicians, who take direction for each patient transport from the attending physician in the pediatric intensive care unit. The transport services use special equipment designed for pediatric patients to monitor and maintain vital support measures during transport.

Maryland Regional Neonatal Transport Program

The Maryland Regional Neonatal Transport Program, a joint program between the University of Maryland Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Hospital, provides free, 24-hour-a-day transport by ambulance or air from community hospitals to UMMC or Johns Hopkins. Air Transportation

Through a partnership with PHI Air Medical LLC., Maryland ExpressCare transport service includes helicopters with the capability of transporting sick, complex patients extended distances. The flight crews include highly trained pilots, certified flight registered nurses (CFRN) and certified flight paramedics (FP-C).
