In addition, UMMC can handle everything from level 1 trauma injuries at Shock Trauma to urgent — but not life-threatening — medical needs at one of UM's Urgent Care locations.
Emergency Department at UMMC
UMMC offers 24/7 emergency services with board-certified doctors, nurses and technicians who have received advanced training in emergency care. They treat a wide array of serious illness and injuries. These may include:
- Allergic reactions
- Breathing problems
- Heart problems (including chest or arm pain)
- Stroke
- Loss of consciousness, seizure or severe dizziness
- Stomach or chest pain
- Infant illness
- Poisoning or drug overdose
- Severe burns, cuts, punctures, bites
- Child, spouse or elder abuse
- Mental health problems, such as hallucinations, or suicide threats and attempts
- Rape, assault or other injury sustained during a violent crime
Urgent Care at UMMC
