Nurse Practitioner Critical Care Fellowship
This fast-paced, 9-month training program that prepares NP fellows to become highly skilled in the management of a variety of patients. Our structured training program uses high-fidelity simulation and didactic and precept clinical rotations to develop advanced clinical decision making for the advancement in the management of critically ill patients.
What does the Critical Care Fellowship offer?
- Opportunity to obtain over 90 hours of CEUs with weekly lecture series and various critical care courses.
- Direct patient care clinical rotations in various ICU/Critical Care settings:
- Neuro-Critical Care Unit
- Medical Intensive Care Unit
- Surgical Intensive Care Unit
- Trauma Intensive Care Unit
- Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit
- Lung Rescue Unit
- Critical Care Resuscitation Unit
- Neuro-Trauma Intensive Care Unit
- Acute Emergency Surgery Service
- Soft Tissue Surgical Service
- Cardiology Service
- Stroke Neurology Service
- Full-time employment benefits
- Networking and job placement assistance post-fellowship
- Mentorship in development of an EBP project, abstract/manuscript writing and presenting at a national conference
Program Eligibility
- Graduation from an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program (CCNE or NLN)
- Must be nationally board certified (ANCC or AACN)
- Must obtain a Maryland RN and CRNP license
- Must be able, in an unpredictable fast paced environment, to work weekends, nights, 40-60 hour workweeks, attend all lectures, simulation and clinical rotations
Application Cycle
- Submit application, personal statement of interest and resume no later than March 31st of the year you wish to begin fellowship
- A select number of applicants will be invited for a two day in-person interview in early May and informed of their acceptance by June.
- NP Fellowship begins each August
