  • What causes non-healing wounds? They can result from a number of factors including diabetes, poor circulation, trauma, vascular disease and immobility.

  • What can I expect on my first appointment? Our wound care team will conduct an in-depth assessment including a review of your medical history and additional testing, if needed. They will evaluate your wound and recommend a personalized treatment plan just for you and teach you how to care for you wound at home between visits.

  • Do I have to change doctors? No. While you are receiving treatment at our Center, you will continue to receive routine care from your primary care physician. Evaluations on your wound care and progress will be sent to your physician.

  • Are wound care services covered by insurance? Services are covered by Medicare/Medicaid, most HMOs and other private insurance plans when wound treatment is medically necessary. We will obtain your insurance benefit and prior authorization when needed. Insurance benefits will be given to you on your first visit.

  • What if I don’t have insurance? Care is not delayed or denied based on your inability to pay. If you don’t have health insurance, our Center can offer you wound care services based on our discounted fee scale. Contact our financial counselor at 443-843-5093 to learn more. Payment arrangements for the physician can be made by contacting the physician’s office. This information will be given to you at the time of scheduling.

  • What do I need to bring to my first appointment? 

    • Physician order/referral

    • Completed medical history form (this will be mailed to you or filled out in our office)

    • List of any medications you are currently taking

    • List of any known allergies

    • Health insurance card

  • Can I handle my pre-appointment registration in advance? Yes. Once you have made your appointment, you can pre-register by calling ScheduleFirst at 443-843-7000.
