ACLS/BLS
ACLS/BLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support)
The hospital requires the following programs to complete ACLS/BLS training:
- Internal Medicine
- Anesthesia
- Surgery
- Emergency Medicine
- Family Medicine
- OB/GYN
- OMF Surgery
- ENT
- Neuro Surgery
- Thoracic Surgery
- Orthopaedic Surgery
The process for ACLS/BLS has been restructured due to COVID. We are no longer offering one 8 hour training day and there will not be specific dates or days assigned to the programs, as done in the past.
The residents will do the online modules for ACLS and BLS (depending on need), and only the skills session will be in-person. We will do half hour skills sessions, over a period of 2 weeks in order to get everyone in. Those dates will be June 14-25, Monday – Friday 8am-4pm with the last session being at 3:30pm.
The dates listed on the application have the option of AM, PM, or EITHER.
- The AM session can be between 8:00 am - 11:30 am
- The PM sessions can be between 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm.
Please have them pick their top 3 dates and times as this will allow flexibility in getting everyone in around their schedule. The sessions start every half hour, and there are 2 spots for each half hour.
- Intro letter and application for your residents (in the same PDF)
- Residency Coordinator Instruction Sheet
- Registration tracker
- The first tab of the spreadsheet (RCs) is the contact information for each department. If the information is incorrect, please contact Brandi directly.
Please return the spreadsheet to Brandi Thomas at bfinch@umm.edu ,with your program’s tab filled out, no later than midnight April 17th. (Any resident submitted after that date, will not be assigned the modules) Don't forget to enter the expiration dates for the current ACLS/BLS certifications.
**As a reminder- if the ACLS and/or BLS certifications expire within 6 months of starting, the trainee will need to renew in June. If the certifications expire 6 months or later, after their start date, they will renew at a later date and not in June.
Please check and double check the spreadsheet to ensure all information before submitting them to Brandi.
**Anyone that is not on the spreadsheet, or is marked as not needing to renew when you submit it, will not be assigned to the class after April 17 and will be responsible for getting the training on their own.
For those programs requiring PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) training, please contact Karen Hardingham directly at 410-328-7532 or by email at khardingham@umm.edu.
