Basic Orthopedics Research

The focus of the Musculoskeletal Research Laboratories of the Department of Orthopaedics is on the physiology and pathology of bone and skeletal muscles, regenerative medicine, and clinical outcomes research.
Our mission is to conduct groundbreaking research that applies multidisciplinary approaches and integrates the perspective of researchers and clinicians to improve musculoskeletal health and orthopaedic outcomes.
The Musculoskeletal Research Laboratories of the Department of Orthopaedics were established in October 2002. Our areas of cutting-edge research include studies to improve understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of bone, cartilage, and skeletal muscles at the molecular, cellular, tissue, and organism levels.
Collectively, our research investigations aim to advance science and improve orthopaedic outcomes for individuals of all ages with musculoskeletal conditions. Accordingly, we continue to concentrate on the growth and development of the Department's research program, including the recruitment of outstanding faculty and staff.
