New Donor Screening Question Related to the COVID Vaccine

The Red Cross is following FDA guidance for donors who have received the COVID-19 vaccination. All donors will now be asked to confirm your vaccination status during your appointment.

• If you have received your vaccine, please specify the manufacturer of your vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson) during your screening. Donors are encouraged but not required to bring a picture of their vaccine card to their appointment.
• You are eligible to donate blood any time after being vaccinated; you do not need to wait any period of time, but must be symptom-free and feeling well at the time of donation. Note that people who have not received the COVID vaccine ARE eligible to donate.
• If you are experiencing any symptoms from the COVID-19 vaccine, the Red Cross recommends postponing your appointment until you are feeling better.
