Beyond Intensive Care: Surviving & Thriving
UM St. Joseph Medical Center offers the virtual Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) peer support group. Beyond Intensive Care: Surviving &Thriving supports current and past ICU patients and family members, to help them connect with others who may have had similar experiences.
What are the symptoms of PICS?
Symptoms include intensive care unit acquired weakness, problems with thinking and judgment (memory, attention span, tasks) and issues with sleeping, nightmares, unwanted memories, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
If you recognize any of these symptoms in yourself or a loved one, don't hesitate and join other ICU survivors at our free PICS support group.
When and Where?
PICS is virtual for the foreseeable future and takes place on the First Wednesday of every month, from 5-6:30 pm.
