Health and Wellness Programs
Dare to C.A.R.E
The Dare to C.A.R.E Program is a free screening program dedicated to saving lives through education, early detection, and prevention of heart and vascular disease. At the appointment, a vascular technologist will conduct a 15 minute-painless, noninvasive ultrasound of your neck, abdomen, and legs. After the screening, your results will be shared with you and your primary doctor. If the screening uncovers disease you and your primary doctor will discuss treatment options.
Who should be screened for vascular disease?
- Patients over the age of 60 should consider screening to understand their risk.
- Those 50 with risk factors and diabetics over 40 are also eligible.
- Certain factors can also increase the risk for the vascular disease such as; smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol
- Other important risk factors include family history of heart disease, lack of physical activity, and obesity.
All screenings will be held on the 1st Tuesday of every month from 10 am - 2 pm in the Community Health Education Center, located in the lower level of the Midtown Outpatient Tower.
