Psychiatry Residency Hours and Call Schedule

Call at University of Maryland and Sheppard Pratt is a key component of our training.
This is an important part of the resident’s education and attention is given to ensure residents have the resources they need to be successful.
Most importantly, at every call there are layers of support and supervision, including seniors, chiefs, and attendings.
You also are provided with all the physical support including sleeping rooms, a lounge room, TV, and food within the hospital facilities and support services to enable you to concentrate on patient care and learning. As you can see from the call hours/schedule below, some rotations have longer call hours for shorter durations and other rotations have a night float system. We get feedback yearly about the schedule and incorporate new ideas!
