Application Process - Neurology Residency
The Neurology residency program has changed to a Categorical 4-year program effective immediately for the 2021 MATCH. All 7 residency positions will be filled through the Categorical Neurology program that covers the PGY1 – PGY4 years of training starting in July 2021. As this change happened during application season, all applications through ERAS to either the Advanced or Categorical program listings will be reviewed, but we will no longer be offering any Advanced positions.
The University of Maryland Department of Neurology participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service and the National Resident Matching Program. Applicants should apply to our Residency Program through these organizations. To be eligible, candidates must graduate from an approved American or Canadian medical school or obtain ECFMG certification.
Interview Process for 2021 MATCH
If you have already completed your ERAS application:
- If you would like to be considered for a Categorical position:
- Nothing further needs to be done.
- Your application to the Advanced program will be considered for a categorical position.
- The Med-Prelim/Neurology PGY1 track will be closing – you can withdraw your application to make things cleaner on your end, but it is not required.
- If you were applying specifically for an Advanced position:
- We are very sorry to make this last-minute change, but we are no longer offering Advanced positions.
- Please withdraw your application in ERAS
After review of their application, candidates may be invited for an interview by the Resident Selection Committee. All interviews will be conducted virtually for the 2021 MATCH. Interviews will be a half-day in length, with both morning and afternoon options, and will be held twice a week. Candidates will have a presentation by the Program Director, interviews with several faculty members and our Department Chair, as well as an opportunity to meet with several of our current residents. More information will be provided to candidates who are invited to interview.
