Wound Healing

A non-healing wound is one that has not begun to heal within 10 days and not responded to previous therapies.

Whether your foot wound is from an injury, surgery, diabetes or other systemic condition, the surgical podiatrists at University of Maryland Orthopaedics are trained and equipped to treat wounds using innovative techniques.

Our podiatric surgeons help patients better manage their risk for diabetic and vascular foot ulcers in order to prevent amputation through both preventive diabetic foot care and treatment of active wounds. 

Another condition that may or may not be diagnosed already — such as diabetes or vascular disease — could be the reason your wound won't heal. That's why our doctors work alongside other physicians on your care team, such as endocrinologists, vascular surgeons, primary care doctors and infectious disease specialists, and take a holistic approach to your care.
