Arterial and Venous Disease

Our specialist offer procedures such as:

  • Angiography and venography to diagnose conditions in which there is a narrowing or blockage of a blood vessel
  • Thrombolysis to dissolve blood clots and improve blood flow
  • Angioplasty and stenting to restore blood flow in narrowed arteries
  • Image-guided placement of inferior cava filters (IVC), a device that can stop blood clots to the lungs
  • Embolization for control of post-traumatic, gynecologic and gastrointestinal bleeding

Gynecology Care

Working in conjunction with your gynecologist or referring physician, our interventional radiologists provide treatments that include:

  • Uterine fibroid embolization that uses a CT scanner and a catheter to deliver medication to shrink fibroid tumors in the uterus that can cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pain and pressure on the bladder or bowel
  • Minimally invasive treatment of chronic pelvic venous insufficiency
  • CT-guided peripheral nerve block for chronic pelvic pain
  • Hysterosalpingography, a fluoroscopy procedure to examine the uterus and fallopian tubes of a woman who is having difficulty becoming pregnant

Cancer Care

  • Selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) - targeted therapy for inoperable liver cancer
  • Brachytherapy - a radiation therapy that plants radioactive seeds directly in the tumor
  • Cryoablation - uses extreme cold to kill cancer cells
  • Radiofrequency ablation - a catheter procedure using microwaves to heat and kill cancer cells
  • NanoKnife IRE - uses electrical energy to directly target tumors on the cellular level. IRE (irreversible electroporation) destroys non-operable tumors using intense bursts of electricity without damaging healthy tissue.

Gastrointestinal Care

Vascular interventional GI specialists offer comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract including the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, colon and liver. Procedures include:

  • X-ray examination of the bile ducts (cholangiography)
  • Management of gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Gastrotomy – a surgical opening into the stomach

Genitourinary and Kidney Care

Women and men receive minimally invasive diagnostic and treatment procedures for reproductive, urinary and kidney disorders. These include:

  • CT-guided renal cryoablation
  • Ureteral stenting and nephrostomy to help restore kidney function and urine flow
  • Hemodialysis port placement

Pulmonary Care

You'll receive care from doctors specializing in diagnosis and treatment of heart, lung and bronchial tube conditions. These include asthma, bronchitis, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), emphysema, pneumonia and tuberculosis. Diagnostic and treatment procedures include:

  • Thoracostomy and pleurodesis uses CT or ultrasound to guide a thin tube to deliver medications to the area between the chest wall and lungs, called the pleural space
  • Pulmonary arteriography uses X-ray and dye to evaluate blood flow in the lungs
  • Thrombolytic therapy uses a catheter to deliver clot-busting medication to blood clots
  • Bronchial arteriography and embolization uses X-ray to examine the bronchial tubes in the lungs. X-ray or CT is used to guide a catheter to the affected area and deliver medication to close the blood vessel.
