Outpatient Services

Emergency Department Evaluation

Our licensed behavioral health clinicians are available at both of our hospitals (UM Harford Memorial Hospital and UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center) to evaluate and determine appropriate levels of care for people who have come to the emergency department with psychiatric care needs.

Outpatient Clinic

Our clinic offers medication evaluation and management by a psychiatric physician or nurse practitioner as well as psychotherapy services with a licensed psychotherapist.

Intensive Outpatient Program

The mental health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Harford Memorial Hospital is a structured, group therapy for adults who experiencing significant mental health issues that interfere with social, occupational or interpersonal functioning. Group therapy provides an opportunity to explore how you understand yourself and others. Patients actively participate in treatment outcomes and receive multidisciplinary and multimodal treatment from a highly qualified and licensed behavioral health team.

Referrals can come from hospitals, community providers or the individual. To learn more or to make a referral call 443-843-8800.

The IOP has regulated admission criteria. An individual who meets this criteria and who is motivated to change and can interact well in a group setting will benefit from this program. If admission criteria is not met, our staff will work with you to provide referrals and other resources.

Inpatient Services

Medical Consultations

Clinicians are available at both of our hospitals to evaluate and determine appropriate levels of care for patients with psychiatric care needs who have been admitted to a medical care unit of the hospital.

Acute Inpatient Treatment

Inpatient mental/behavioral health treatment is provided for people 18 years of age or older who are in need of short term, acute psychiatric care. We provide a safe environment where patients receive a comprehensive evaluation and intensive multidisciplinary treatment by caring professionals who facilitate their reentry into the community.
