Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital Announces Board Updates

BALTIMORE, MD (July 1) - Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital's (MWPH) volunteer leadership is responsible for driving the vision and mission of the hospital. As the fiscal year begins, MWPH's boards are seeing positive growth and change.

The Mt. Washington Pediatric Foundation, Inc., the hospital's advisory board, announced today that a new board member has been selected to serve on the organization's board of directors. Beth Armacost, patient parent and recent chair of the hospital's Storybook Gala, was confirmed at the hospital's Board of Trustees' annual meeting on June 14. This addition will help further the hospital's mission to provide the highest quality patient care programs for infants, children and adolescents. The Foundation raises, receives, invests and administers funds in support of this mission.

Beth Armacost earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and Middle School Math from the University of Delaware and a Master's in Education from Wilmington College. She taught middle school math from 2001-2008. In 2013, Beth was introduced to MWPH and became a member of the Gala's core leadership for three years before chairing the event in 2017. Now a member of the Gilman Parent Association, Beth successfully lobbied for MWPH to be the beneficiary of Gilman's Lower School Read-A-Thon which resulted in a $26,000 donation. Beth and her husband, Mike, live at the Parke at Mount Washington with their two sons, Jackson and Cooper, who are also "junior fundraisers" for MWPH.

"We're very fortunate to have Beth join the foundation board," said Matt Cohen, chair of the Foundation board. "The ideas and energy which she has brought to the Storybook Gala will, no doubt, continue to benefit the hospital."

Sheldon Stein, president and CEO of MWPH, added "I am delighted to welcome Beth Armacost to this board, and I look forward to working with her to further our efforts."

Additionally, Beryl J. Rosenstein, MD, will become the Chair of the MWPH Board of Trustees and Jerry Wollman will become the Vice Chair. Dr. Rosenstein is a professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and Jerry Wollman is Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS).

These terms begin on July 1, 2018.
