JACQUES Initiative
The JACQUES Initiative, a program of the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, is an outreach program that changes lives, engages communities, and supports health systems affected by HIV and Hepatitis C.
The initiative provides treatment support, HIV and Hepatitis C testing, peer counseling and support groups for people living with HIV. It also partners with the UM Center for Infectious Diseases, where patients can receive comprehensive medical care.
One of the initiative's core programs is its Treatment Adherence Center (TAC), which helps patients live well while managing their medications. The center offers three levels of medication adherence support:
- Daily directly observed medication administration
- Weekly pre-filled pillboxes
- Monthly pick up of prescription bottles
Treatment coaches and support groups also provide peer support. For more information about the JACQUES Initiative, visit www.jacques.ihv.org.
