Universal Masking
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) has put into place several patient safety measures, aimed at reducing the spread of the virus and keeping patients, visitors, care partners and staff safe.
UMMS continues to require that everyone inside our facilities wear a mask. This includes patients arriving for in-person appointments and procedures, the limited number of visitors allowed per our visitor restrictions policy (including while in patient rooms) and our staff.
We strongly encourage use of a well-fitting, high-quality mask, such as an N95 or KN95, that covers the nose and mouth at all times without any gaps. Cloth masks are allowed, but medical masks are preferred. Neck gaiters and masks with exhalation ports are not allowed.

If you already have an appropriate mask that you wear in public spaces, we ask that you bring when coming to our facilities. We will give you a mask upon entering if you don't have one.
Masks are safe for multiple uses as long as they fit well, so we are asking visitors to please safely store and reuse face masks for return visits. Disposable masks should be replaced if they become loose, damaged or soiled.
