About Me

Dr. Lauren Newnam is a foot and ankle surgeon. She provides expert care for problems with the complex structures of the foot and ankle using medical, surgical and biomechanical treatments. Her specialties include lower extremity trauma (including ankle and foot fractures), abnormal gait, Achilles tendon ruptures, foot deformities, joint dislocations and overuse injuries. She has an extensive practice in wound and limb salvage.

Dr. Newnam is passionate about patient education. Her care approach involves helping patients understand their foot or ankle problems, including causes, and thoroughly explaining treatment options that can lead to optimal success. 

On many occasions, Dr. Newnam has been recognized by What's Up? Media as an exemplary medical professional in the Greater Chesapeake Bay Region in the publication's "Top Docs" survey, including for the 2025-2026 year.

  • My care provider was everything I hope for in a Doctor well skill and experience no complaints She is very skill and definitely know her work % soon as she walk in the room and look at my foot she knew what was going on with my medical emergency .I am truly thankful

  • Dr trim my toenails, which was very good and explained the problems, but I thought that they were left rough.

  • This was my first visit to see Dr. Newman. I had a slight emergency and was seen same day I called probably during her lunch hour. Everyone at this office was so nice and caring.

  • Dr. Newnam is fantastic. She is no-nonsense, extremely knowledgeable, and personable. She performed my surgery six months ago, and I have had regular check-ups with her and her staff since then. I would absolutely, 100% recommend Dr. Newnam and her staff to anyone.

  • She very nicely explained what I had to do to heal my foot injury and patiently explained what this stubborn old man HAD to do to heal the foot

  • Of the three visits I have had with this provider - this is the first time I feel like she actually slowed down and listened to what I had to say. During the first 2 visits I feel like she talked but didn't listen which made it more difficult to get an appropriate plan of care
