The Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital (BCCFH), a public-private partnership of the Maryland Department of Health, University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), will be piloting a unique approach designed to improve equitable allocation of COVID-19 vaccine and expand its emphasis on vaccinating the most vulnerable communities in Baltimore.

Advanced medical tents will replace the triage tents that had been installed earlier this month at UM Shore Medical Centers at Chestertown, Dorchester and Easton, hospital officials announced.

David Marcozzi, MD, COVID-19 Incident Commander for the University of Maryland Medical System, visited UM Shore Medical Center at Easton on Wednesday, April 15 to check-in with staff who are on the frontlines of the hospital’s response to the global pandemic.

We joined our colleagues at UMMS and opened our local unified Incident Command Center to ready our three hospitals and Queen Anne's Emergency Center to serve the people of our region.

UM Shore Regional Health has enjoyed a generous outpouring of community support for frontline team members working at UM Shore Medical Centers at Chestertown, Dorchester and Easton, and at UM Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown. 

The tents installed outside UM Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown and the emergency departments at UM Shore Medical Centers at Chestertown, Dorchester and Easton may soon be in use for patient assessment, Dr. Walter Atha, regional director, Emergency Medicine for UM Shore Regional Health has announced.

University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) is intensely engaged in planning to care for our community in the event of an influx of patients needing hospital care as result of the possible impact of COVID-19. 

With the first confirmed COVID-related death in Maryland, more than 100 confirmed coronavirus cases across the state and an 88 percent increase in cases statewide during the past 48 hours, the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is enacting updated visitor restrictions at all 13 System hospitals and other UMMS healthcare facilities.

Effective Friday, March 13, at 5 p.m., all support group meetings, classes, seminars and professional meetings scheduled in UM Shore Regional Health hospitals, outpatient and other facilities are cancelled until further notice.

Healthcare providers at UM Shore Medical Centers are preparing in anticipation of COVID-19. We are monitoring the situation and are following guidelines and protocols issued by the CDC.
