The University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown is taking a significant step in its plans to become a designated Age Friendly Health System with the addition of Katherine Selman, MD, to the hospital's Emergency Department. Dr. Selman comes to UM Shore Regional Health from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill where she completed a Geriatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship.

Pink Polar Bear Golf Tournament Returns to Chestertown

Members of the Chester River Yacht & Country Club organized and participated in the sixth annual Pink Polar Bear Golf Tournament on Sunday, July 25, raising $2,610 to benefit patients served in the Eleanor & Ethel Leh Women’s Center at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown. This year’s event attracted 84 club members.

Walid Kamsheh, MD, has been practicing medicine as a neurologist on Maryland’s Eastern Shore for over 30 years, and this year, is celebrating 10 years with the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). He has no plans to retire any time soon, thanks to a growing practice specializing in the study and treatment of brain, spinal cord and nerve disorders; his leadership of the area’s Primary Stroke Center; exciting advancements in treatment options; and his desire to keep giving back to the Eastern Shore communities that have supported and given him so much.

UM Chester River Health Foundation Raises More Than $239,000 for New Critical Patient Care Equipment at Chestertown Hospital

The University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown is being enhanced thanks to a newly-purchased high-technology telemetry system which plays a vital role in the care of patients. Philips IntelliVue Pic iX Patient Monitors telemetry system continuously monitors a patient’s vital signs such as heart rate, respiration, oxygen level, pulse and temperature, and transmits the data to a technician at the nurses’ workstation. The system, with a cost of nearly a quarter-million dollars, was purchased for the hospital by the University of Maryland Chester River Health Foundation.

Following a week-long renovation and refresh, UM Shore Medical Center at Easton recently unveiled its newly renovated "Easton Marketplace," replacing the traditional cafeteria, a project completed with the hospital's partner, Morrison Healthcare. The grand opening included a ribbon-cutting led by Diane Baltimore, a University of Maryland Shore Regional Health Food and Nutrition Services and Easton Marketplace team member who has worked with the hospital system for 14 years.
