A cardiologist, Dr. Vivek Dhruva has special interests in sports cardiology and medical technologies. In addition to his clinical practice, he chairs the Department of Medicine at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health. He also serves on University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health's Performance Improvement and Medical Executive committees.

While completing training at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, Dr. Dhruva served as chief resident in internal medicine and then academic chief fellow in cardiology. On multiple occasions, he has been named a "Top Doctor" in the specialty of cardiology (non-interventional) by Baltimore magazine.

  • Dr. Dhruva is a very compassionate person. He makes you feel that he cares about you as a person and not just like "the 3rd patient of the day". He is very professional, yet friendly and speaks to you in a way that you can understand. He uses the tools (wall chart, computer) etc., to better explain your condition and when he asks you, "how are you feeling", he really wants an honest answer. I would definitely recommend him to friends and family.
