Peter Olivieri III, MD, is board-certified in pulmonary and critical care medicine. He cares for patients at UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center and in the outpatient pulmonary clinic at UM Baltimore Washington Medical Group - Pulmonology. He is also the Chair of the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care and the Director of Interventional Pulmonary Program at UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Dr. Olivieri focuses on the evaluation and management of patients with nodules, masses and enlarged lymph nodes in the chest as well as fluid around the lungs (pleural effusions).

- Endobronchial ultrasound (procedure used to diagnose different types of lung disorders, including cancer)

- Percutaneous ultrasound gastrostomy (minimally invasive procedure that involves placing a feeding tube directly into the stomach)
- Robotic-assisted bronchoscopy (technique used to examine air passages via a small camera attached to a flexible tube guided by a robotic arm that the doctor uses a controller to operate)
- Thoracentesis (procedure done to remove fluid from around the lungs)
- Thoracoscopy with pleural biopsy (procedure done to examine the lungs or chest cavity to make a diagnosis)
- Transthoracic lung biopsy (procedure that involves taking samples of lung tissue to make a diagnosis)
- Tunneled pleural catheter placement (minimally invasive procedure that involves inserting a catheter in the pleural cavity, between the lungs and chest wall, to remove fluid)
