About Me

A primary care doctor, Dr. Allen provides comprehensive, holistic care to adult patients. He chose to pursue a career in primary care because he enjoys helping patients with complicated, chronic diseases. He has special interests in:

  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Osteoporosis
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Preventative care
  • Cancer screenings

Dr. Allen is actively involved in medical student and resident education. He is deeply invested in improving medical student wellness and resiliency.

In 2022, Dr. Allen received the Woodward Award from the University of Maryland Department of Medicine for being an outstanding faculty reacher. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

In his free time, Dr. Allen enjoys cooking and bike riding as a form of exercise.

  • John Allen is a fantastic doctor. He patiently listened to my concerns about my health. He took the time to address, ask questions, and explain my conditions and treatment options. He informed me of what was causing my conditions and showed me diagrams to explain his diagnosis. I came in with multiple health concerns as it had been a while since I've had PCP and he gave me referrals and treatments for each one, so I could address them as soon as possible. I was able to get spinal imaging and blood and urine analysis all within the same building. I was able to get care and the tests done all within only a couple of hours. He also wrote a letter for work accommodations to help with my back pain. Could not have asked for better or more empathetic care.
