About Me

Dr. O'Mara specializes in knee and shoulder arthroscopy, total knee and hip replacement, fracture care, sports medicine, rotator cuff and ACL repair.

Dr. O'Mara served as an orthopedic surgeon, with the rank of Major, in the US Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.  He is a graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont.  He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Louisville Affiliated Hospitals in Kentucky.

He is a member of the University of Maryland Joint Network, a group of surgeons known for their advanced expertise and positive outcomes in total hip and knee replacement.

He enjoys spending time with his wife and three grown children as well as cycling.  He is involved with high school sports in Harford County and enjoys interacting with the students and parents.

  • Sometimes Physicians have a tendency to talk very quickly because they spend their days explaining to patients. But, I would have preferred a little more time explaining what he was looking at on the X-RAY/MRI. He did have a concern with what he saw but honestly, I didn't understand & by the time I tried to make sense he had moved on. I value Dr. O'Mara's opinion and his work and that is why I am a repeat patient but sometimes just a bit slower as most patients might be like me.
